Operate conventional lathe machines for machining metal components.
Perform turning, facing, boring, drilling, threading, grooving, taper turning and reaming operations.
Read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances.
Set and secure workpieces correctly in the chuck or fixture.
Select suitable cutting tools and adjust speed, feed and cutting depth according to the job.
Use Vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges and other measuring instruments to check dimensions.
Inspect finished components for accuracy, quality and surface finish.
Identify machining defects and make necessary adjustments.
